Maybelline The Nudes Palette

Nude eyes will always be in fashion. I don't think there is an outfit that a nude eye won't compliment. There are so many favourites out there when it comes to nude eye-shadow palettes and so many options to choose from. The obvious faves' are the Naked palettes, well because they are just simple amazing.

The palette that I have seen popping up everywhere - except for the Naked range - is this Maybelline 'The Nudes' Palette. This palette has mix of both matte and shimmery shades. and contains 12 eye-catching shades from neutral beiges, soft browns, smokey browns and dark shades. It literally has every shade that you will need to create the ultimate nude eye.

What I love about this palette is, Maybelline have really thought about the layout of the shadows. If you are looking for a simple duo, but unsure what shade go then its pretty easy to see which shades would work well together. Likewise for triples or quads or you can go crazy and mix and match like I do. All this comes in a super sleek black palette that is simple and lightweight to carry around in your bag all day. The only thing that irritates me is, that it comes with a sponge applicator - like who uses sponge applicators now? Where are those brushes at! - which for £9.99 you'd expect a better applicator to complement the products.

The pigmentation of the shadows is pretty impressive, some of the shades have a really strong vibrant pigment which means that you don't need a "base" shade. However, some of the shades are really faint and you'd definitely need a base coat to be able to maximise the colour, which I suppose is expected as you always get a few naff shades in a palette.

On application, at first I felt it was quite hard to get the products onto the brush and it seemed like you was applying a lot of the product, but the shadows go on your eyes really smoothly and are really good when blending shades together.

The shadows last well on your skin and I was quite impressed with how they last on your eyes without a primer. If you work in an office like I do, then you can get a little creasing but it's not that bad and it does easily re-blend. But of course, a primer just makes any eyeshadow last so much longer. If you're looking for a good primer, check out UD Primer Potion as your eyeshadows literally last all day and night with that badboy!

As you can see from the swatches, the shimmer shades are just gorgeous. Personally I am not a fan of many matte shadows so I don't really use them unless its as a "base" shade. Overall, I actually quite like this product although I don't think its completely amazing as half the shades I wouldn't really use (the mattes) but it is still a pretty impressive palette and this is currently my go to nude palette that I use daily and comes with me whenever I go away.

When you think about the cost of Maybelline's single eyeshadows or quads, the value for money for this palette really is worth it, as you get twelve single shades or threedifferent quads in a palette which is pretty impressive for less than a tenner. Also, as I am a big nude/smokey eyes person, this palette has a lot of shades that I will use all the time so if you are like me, then I am guessing you'd like this too (although, you'd love it even more if you love an equal mix of mattes and shimmers)

Have you tried 'The Nudes' palette? What are your thoughts?
